Welcome to the website of Palmyre Oomen.

I am a philosopher and a theologian (and from first education a theoretical biologist too), and wrote my dissertation on A.N. Whitehead’s philosophy and its possible contribution to a theology of God's agency.

From 2002 till 2013  I was Thomas More professor in Philosophy at the Eindhoven University of Technology, followed by two years of guest professorship at that university. Subjects treated in my philosophy courses include causality, freedom, C.P. Snow’s two cultures, Whitehead’s philosophy, science and religion, free will, and philosophy of nature.

Until 2013  I also had a full appointment as senior researcher ‘Theology and Science’ at the Department of Philosophy, Theology and Religious studies of the Radboud University Nijmegen. In this position I have been chiefly concerned with theological and philosophical issues in relation to the natural sciences and technology.

On this website, you will find more about me, my publications, and other spin-off of my academic research and teachings.
